News Blog Category - News WIWU-TV's Crossroads program recently featured a special day at Marion Community Schools Head Start: The day that Soles4Souls visited!

Head Start kids got a free pair of shoes thanks to a partnership between the Soles4Souls organization and Carson's department store. The Marion store's successful promotion of the program, part of a nationwide competition for the retailer's outlets across the country, brought the program here to Marion. Click to watch the Crossroads feature below:

MCS is grateful for the support of our community, like this campaign by local Carson's employees and shoppers who brought this program here through their efforts. THANK YOU!

News Blog Category - News The annual Fly/In Cruise/In car and air show is coming up soon at the Marion Municipal Airport, and with it comes the Marching Giants' all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast. Come on out to the airport and support our musicians as they head back into competition season for the first time in several years!

Check out this WIWU "Crossroads" feature from last year's Fly/In Cruise/In for a taste of what's in store:

The pancake breakfast this year is set for 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 30. Tickets are $5 in advance, available from any MHS band member, or at the airport, 5904 S. Western Ave., or at the Bright House Networks Marion office, 2923 S. Western Ave. Tickets at the door are $8 for adults, $3 for kids 8 and younger.

There is no admission charge to the show itself, which runs until 2 p.m.

The show this year will feature classic cars and other vintage vehicles, along with dozens of aircraft. The special feature this year is the C-54 "Spirit of Freedom", a flying museum with displays about the Berlin Airlift, a major global response in the late 1940s to one of the first major international crises of the Cold War. The "Spirit of Freedom" is part of the Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation. Click here to learn more about the organization.

Also featured will be helicopter rides for an additional cost. Click here to learn more.

Don't miss this unique local event that has supported our band program for many years!
